Snowsports Industries America, a tradeshow organizer for snow sports businesses and enthusiasts, needed to explore other channels to generate revenue at a time when most in-person events were shut down. In response, SIA aimed to carve out its place in the industry as a leading producer of unique digital content by launching Snowbound Fest, a digital platform for showcasing unique content that could also sell merchandise, memberships, and ad space. To bring this idea to life, SIA picked Icon Commerce because of our expertise in bridging content and commerce.
Icon Commerce designed, built, and activated the snow sports industry’s first all-in-one digital platform, launching it in October of 2020. The website featured UI considerations for event organizers and participants alike, including unique and interactive industry content, a paid-access digital fan club, a digital storefront, and sellable digital ad units. We also developed an affiliate program to help bring in revenue through ad sales.
SIA’s exciting new digital platform brought in diverse new audiences and strengthened the pipeline of new and interested customers to the snow sports industry. The website received over 85,000 unique visitors in 18 months in an industry where the average trade show attracts fewer than 5,000 attendees.
