The Technical Project Manager works with the account service and technical development teams to ensure on time, on budget delivery of website development and maintenance projects. The Technical Project Manager must be adept in developing technical requirements, planning workflow, anticipating problems and recognizing opportunities.

The Technical Project Manager requires superior project management skills. They must be a conscientious team player, be an organized and proactive thinker, demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be a creative problem-solver with initiative and a take-charge attitude.

The Technical Project Manager tenaciously removes project barriers and provides a clear focus to the team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partner with account executives and technical development team from onset of project to assist in the development of comprehensive project plans
  • Create and manage detailed schedules throughout the life of projects
  • Work with technical development and UX teams to analyze, plan and develop requirements documents reference to scheduled projects
  • Translate requirements into clear, actionable user stories that developers can execute against
  • Work with quality assurance team (QA) to create testing plans and ensure all work flows through AS
  • Track budgets closely, pulling and analyzing QvA (Quote vs. Actual) and connecting with the AE and Tech lead on next steps and solutions
  • Highly involved in Project Management systems (Advantage, Basecamp, Jira): set up the project schedules and manage completion of tasks (to ensure projects are moving forward in a timely manner)
  • Work directly with internal and/or contracted development team to communicate and activate tasks (including hours and timing)
  • Monitor and report project progress to AE and manage roadblocks throughout the life of the project
  • Monitor team velocity to forecast project timing and address as necessary
  • Monitor incoming requests to divide and issue work directly to development team (via Jira tickets) or Tech Lead (Advantage/Basecamp)
  • Maintain backlog to ensure dependencies and priorities are actively managed
  • Initiate/attend internal and client cross-functional project planning and status meetings, preparing status sheets and agendas in advance
  • Deliver ongoing project communication, including frequent internal check-ins with AE and development team
  • Motivate people involved in the project to complete tasks on time and within budget

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in similar agency role
  • Experience with Shopify and Adobe commerce
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with Jira software preferred
  • Knowledgeable and comfortable with both agile and waterfall methodologies
