Th Director of Strategy will be responsible for the maturation of the Strategy practice – driving the continuous improvement of the agency’s Strategic output and talent development in order to advance the work we provide to our existing clients and support growth through new business opportunities. This role requires a proven leader with a track record of translating consumer, competitive and industry insights into Marketing and Digital strategies that resolve business challenges and produce meaningful results. This person will work in tight partnership with account, media, creative, technology and marketplace internal and external teams to inspire and deliver best-in-class thinking and work with measurable business impact. The ideal candidate will have experience building and/or managing a Strategy team. This role reports to the Chief Experience Officer at Icon Commerce.


  • Establish Strategy team vision/goals and track progress towards accomplishments
  • Elevate standards of Strategy deliverables
  • Lead development of the tools and methodologies the Strategy team uses in order to find the best data-driven insights
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to client partnership leaders, working to identify issues and solutions that will both drive partnership with our clients and more work for our team
  • Inspire a mindset of pushing the work and leading the client’s thinking about the potential of their business
  • Act as Strategy lead on key client accounts and/or support team members on accounts (from determining the right work, estimating proposals, selling-in, implementing and optimizing)
  • Collaborate with and offer strategic insights to creative team leaders to aid in the development of remarkable creative that achieves client goals
  • Monitor the client’s business success (KPIs), industry, competition and market factors to influence the go-to-market approach
  • Guide brand/competitor/market audits and analysis, research approach and testing strategies
  • Develop and implement cohesive strategies (Marketing strategies/plans, OGSM/GOST models, GTM strategies) and omnichannel campaigns that align with client business goals
  • Conduct brainstorms, workshops and ideation sessions that drive strategic solutions and inspire creative thinking
  • Articulate strategic direction in internal and external messaging and communications in order to sell-in, inspire, and educate both audiences
  • Oversee internal project briefings, media plan and creative reviews on high-profile client projects to champion the strategic viewpoint and ensure that work is aligned to agreed upon strategy
  • Provide thought leadership/subject matter expertise/unique POVs and demonstrate awareness of innovations, trend developments and best practices and how they can impact clients’ businesses
  • Demonstrate marketing and digital strategy mastery while constantly staying competitive through training, immersion with new technologies, asking questions and learning from others’ expertise
  • Grow and develop team members by providing regular, actionable and motivating feedback which supports strengths and identifies areas for improvement

  • 10+ years’ experience in strategic planning, execution, and reporting across marketing channels such as paid/organic social media, paid search, SEO, content, CRM/email, Google Analytics, etc.
  • Minimum 5 years of management experience
  • Experience and/or certification tools like Google Analytics, research, and market intelligence tools, reporting platforms, and more
  • History of success in delivering for senior marketing leaders and developing senior-level relationships
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and executing successful Marketing / Digital strategies, resulting in revenue growth and increased market share
  • Excellent analytical skills and ability to interpret complex data sets to derive actionable insights. Hands-on experience with analytics platforms
  • Personal interest in and strong aptitude for understanding emerging digital/eCommerce/marketing attribution
  • Proficiency in implementing A/B testing platforms and utilizing best practices
  • Strong leadership abilities with experience in building and managing high-performing teams
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with clients and internal stakeholders at various levels
  • Bachelor’s degree
